Magical Christmas Tree
There are few things more festive than the smell of a freshly cut christmas tree. The scent that normally fills your home when you’ve just put up your newly cut tree depends on the species of tree you choose and how recently it’s been cut.
Often spruce trees have a stronger, longer lasting scent and if it’s just been cut, is more hydrated which helps the sap circulate more. But if you want to keep the fragrance for longer or achieve this wonderful, natural scent with an artificial tree then why not try this blend of essential oils:
6 drops of Fir Needle
3 drops of Black Spruce
1 drop of Sweet Orange
2 drops of Nutmeg
Heavenly Mulled Spice
Mulled wine is synonymous with the holiday season. Whether you prefer mulled wine, spiced warm cider or simply like the smell of it simmering away on the stove – it has a delicious Christmas scent. This festive essential oil blend can help you create the heavenly mulled spice smell in your home:
5 drops of Sweet Orange
3 drops of Clove Bud
2 drops of Nutmeg
2 drops of Cinnamon Bark
Warming Ginger Bread
From October to February the smell of ginger, clove, nutmeg and cinnamon waft through the home as seasonal baking comes into its own. Warm gingerbread fills our hearts, homes and of course tummies with happiness. But if you don’t have time to bake you can still achieve this glorious fragrance using this essential oil blend:
5 drops of Ginger
4 drops of Clove Bud
2 drops of Nutmeg
2 drops of Cinnamon Bark
Using a DIY Reed Diffuser
These blends are designed for electric diffusers but if you are interested in creating these festive fragrances for a DIY reed diffuser then we recommend:
- Doubling the number of drops of each essential oil
- Mixing this with 1 tablespoon of vodka or clean alcohol
- Mix the ingredients with ¼ cup of a carrier oil like Jojoba, Apricot or Safflower
The alcohol and additional carrier oil in this blend help the essential oils to travel up the reeds and diffuse in the atmosphere more easily.
Don’t forget that some essential oils can cause irritation and harm to pets, especially for cats and dogs who can experience respiratory irritation if the oils are inhaled. If you are worried about this then please seek professional veterinary advice. Find out more here.
